Candy Land

Once upon a time, in a land far far away, there lived a boy called Tom. He lived wealthily and happily with his mother and father in a remote cottage surrounded by endless fields. Tom’s best friend and constant company was a puppy called Troy. He was glad for his father who worked very hard and earned a great deal of money as a merchant. His mother was a housewife, dedicated to the welfare of the household.

Every morning, Tom would go to school by bus because it was very far from his house. In school, he was well liked by his classmates because he’s elegant, neat, calm and well mannered. His teachers too liked him very much. He was very good at sports too. Every PE time, his classmates always wanted him to be the leader or anything they can’t do.

One day, after school, while playing with Troy in the fields, Tom noticed a hole behind a tree. A hole he has never seen before. It was as big as he was and so deep that there was an echo when he shouted in. He was curious so taking Troy in his arms, they jumped together through the hole.

“Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!” Tom shouted, shutting his eyes and gripping onto his dog firmly. The hole was so deep it went for like forever!

Finally, they stopped sliding and came to a halt at the bottom of the hole. Tom tried to open his eyes but the brightness made it almost impossible. Soon, his eyes became accustomed to the brightness and he was able to see where they had landed. Tom could not believe what he saw. He saw countless of pixies! The pixies stared at Tom and his puppy in awe. Tom saw candies, lollipops and all sorts of sweet food! The leader, or what seemed like it, introduced her self.

“Hello, my name is Adeline. Welcome to Candy Land!”

“Hello, my name is Tom and this is my pet puppy. His name is Troy. I… I have never been to Candy Land before.”

“Well now you have! You can’t tell anyone about this place except one person.” said Adeline.

“Ok. Can I stay for a while? We can chat but only for about thirty minutes because I have to go home before midday.”

“Ok. Then you can come here any time you want!”

“Great! Can I bring home some candies?”

“Sure, but just a little.”

Tom chatted with Adeline and asked as many questions as he could about Candy Land, while Troy ran about the place, playing catching with the little pixies. He asked how they made those candies or is it a machine that did it and did they eat those for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Half an hour later, Tom remembered it was about time he headed home, so he bid Adeline and a few newfound friends goodbye.

“Ok, bye Adeline. I will come back tomorrow!”

“Goodbye!” They helped Tom and his puppy go up the hole whereby he thanked them and went home happily. Upon returning home, Tom saw his mother and father worried and was looking for him everywhere. Tom told them that he had seen a magical place at the field behind the tree.

Mom said, “Are you sure? Maybe you just had an imagination. Now go to bed now, tomorrow you have school you know. Don’t be late for school now alright.”
“Yeah! Children have great imagination! Hahahaha!” dad said.

“Ok. But I tell you what I saw.” Tom said.


Tom hugged his mom and dad and kisses them a goodnight sleep.

He wondered whether or not he should tell his friend or keep it to himself.

Where is Candy Land?

The next day, as usual, Tom went to school. He told his friend, Mary, about Candy Land and the pixies.

“Would you like to come to Candy land with me today?” Tom asked.

Mary said, “I would love to come with you!”

“Great! I will meet you at my house after school.”

“Ok!”

Ring! Ring! The school bell rang. All the children ran to the school gate. Mary went home to get permission from her mother if she could go to Tom’s house.

Her mother said with a tender smile, “Okay, but you have to be back in one and a half an hour’s time to finish up your homework. It is a school day you know.”

Mary said “Thank you, mother!”

Mary ran excitedly to Tom’s house. She saw Tom and Troy waiting for her at the playground. Mary shouted at them.

“Hey, Tom! Are we going or not?”

Tom ran to her and then together they went to the field and looked for the tree he had seen the previous day, but the hole was nowhere to be found! He searched for it high and low, behind nearby trees, rocks and bushes, practically everywhere, but with no luck.

“Mary, I thought the hole was here but now it’s gone!”

Mary was shocked as well as disappointed.

They went to the lake behind Tom’s house, hoping to find the hole. They searched everywhere for nearly an hour until Tom found it at last.

“Mary, Mary look! It’s the hole! I found it! Let’s go!”

But when they reached the bottom, what they saw was not Candy Land but what seemed like… Cherry Land!

Cherry Land!!!

“Tom… this doesn’t look anything like how you described it… everything here is… red!”

Tom was just as mystified as Mary. The thought of another mystical land like Candy Land was unbelievable!

“I know. I’ve never seen this place before!”

The two children looked around them in wonder and surprise. Practically everything Tom and Mary laid eyes on was red! There were cherries, apples, red cakes, red sweets, red berries, red lollypops and strawberries! Mary was utterly dazed because she had never imagined anything like it! However, Tom wasn’t feeling as lost as Mary as he had already been to a magical land. But what they saw was not pixies but different types of cute animals in colorful body color and wings!

The leader, a big, winged, feminine creature, then approached the visitors and asked graciously what their business was, coming to their land.

Tom said, “my name is Tom and this is my friend Mary. We are looking for Candy Land. Do you know where it is?”

The leader said, “Hello, Tom and Mary. My name is Rosie and this is where we, the animals, live! Cherry Land! I heard that Candy Land has moved to another dimension but I absolutely have no idea why or where it’s current location is. I’m really sorry.”

Tom wondered where Candy Land is and why they would suddenly move.

“Perhaps Mary and I could stay here and explore your land before we return home?”

“Of course you could!” Rosie exclaimed gladly.

Tom, Mary and some of the flying creatures they met played Pretend. In the game, they pretended that Tom and Mary were the good King and Queen and twenty of the animals were the knights and the other twenty were the enemies. Rosie and another animal were made the bad King and Queen.

They got very exhausted after playing for nearly the whole afternoon, especially Tom and Mary. They soon had to say goodbye to Rosie and the enchanting, cute animals.

Both Tom and Mary waved to their friends. “Goodbye everybody!”

And all the fairies replied, “Goodbye to you too, friends!”

They then helped Tom and Mary go up the hole before bidding their last goodbyes. Both of them thanked Rosie for the wonderful time they had in Cherry Land.

The two children returned home tired but very happy indeed. Tom was still thinking where Candy Land has gone to, upon reaching home, because there was something pretty urgent he had to tell them. He knew in his heart someday he’d find them……….

Cake Land!

The very next day, while walking to school, Tom was still thinking of Candy Land and what could be the reason for their sudden move. It wasn’t long before he unconsciously reached his school where he saw Mary waiting for him in front of the school gate.

Tom asked, “Why are you waiting for me here?”

Mary whispered breathlessly, “Because I want to tell you that I found a hole in a garden near my house!”

“Let’s check it out after school, okay?” Tom said, his spirit lightening up almost instantaneously.

“Ok!”

After school, Tom went to Mary’s house where they decided to play a little before exploring the brand new hole they’ve discovered. After playing for a few hours, or what seemed like minutes, they felt it was time they went.

It didn’t take them long to find the hole. Before jumping into it, Tom stopped Mary in her tracks and confessed, “Mary, I’m actually going to America some time soon because my father found a better job there... Sigh. That’s why I need to talk to the people in Candy Land… so that they would understand why I left.”

After a long pause, the information finally sunk in. “I will miss you cause you know we were childhood and we also went to the same school.”

“Well, there is no chance of changing my father’s mind… Well, come on, let’s go find out what’s on the other side of this thing.”

So they jumped through the hole together, hand in each other’s. Upon reaching the bottom, the sight that met them was nothing like the previous land they went to. They saw trees growing cakes, cakes on bushes, and more cakes on the ground! It was... Cake Land! However, instead of pixies and fairies, they saw little men that looked like dwarfs! Tom saw many cheeky dwarfs and some are reading a book!

The leader introduced himself, “Hello, my name is Dooky, and I am the leader of the people of Cake Land! Welcome!”

“Hello, my name is Tom and this is my friend Mary.” Tom introduced Mary and himself before asking, “Do you know where Candy Land is?”

“No. Why do you ask?”

“Because tomorrow I am going to America and live there for good, maybe. That’s why I asked, I wanted to explain to them.”

The leader was so surprised because he had never heard of any human making friends with the people of his kind.

“Well we will call you tomorrow after you go to school so that I can tell you where Candy Land is, alright?”

Tom said “Alright. I will come and visit you tomorrow to say goodbye before I leave.”

Before going up the hole, Tom asked, “Can we play with you for a while?”

Dooky said, “ I would love to play with you!”

So they all played together. They played Catching, Hid-and-seek, Blind mice, Virus, Iceman and mushroom. Tom taught the dwarfs new games that they didn’t know and the dwarfs showing them the games they did not know! They had so much fun together and played all afternoon. The dwarfs didn’t want Tom and Mary to go because they were having so much fun. However, all good things must come to an end.

“It’s time for Mary and I to go home.” Tom said sadly.

“Yes, It’s time for us to go home. Our mother will worry about us.” Mary added.

“Ok. Goodbye.”

The dwarfs plus Mary and Tom bid each other farewell miserably as they did not want to part. They helped the children with the ladder, which would take them up and out of the hole.

They bid their last goodbyes with tears forming beneath their eyes.

When they reached the top, Tom asked, “Do you think we would be able to find Candy Land by tomorrow?”

Mary said, “ Yes. You must not lose hope. You must think positively! We will find Candy Land before you leave for America.”

“You’re right. I shouldn’t give up! I will not give up!”

Candle Land?

While walking home, Mary and Tom fell in a hole. The hole disappeared after they fell. Tom woke up and found them selves in a dungeon. They saw many candles lit the whole dungeon. Out of the blue, the gate opened and Tom and Mary saw guards that are candles. Tom and Mary were astonished.

Tom said, “ Is this Candle Land? Maybe this is a castle out of candle!
“I think so. But how are we going to get out? The hole just vanished in thin air! Mary said.

The guards took Tom and Mary to the king and queen who are also made as candles. The king asked, “ Are you Tom?”

“Yes. I am. But how do you know who I am?”

“ I know who you and Mary because we watched you and Mary found the three magical lands and that you could help us save our land because there was a large army of water that is going to take over our land!”

“So you’re saying that I should fight them? But I am just eleven years old!”

“Yeh. We’re just kids. Mary added.

“ I know. But you’re the selected one to protect this land! If you do that, you will be prince and princess.”

“All we want is to go home you know! Tom said.

“I agree with Tom! Our mother will worry where we will be and Tom here has to be home before his flight to America.” Mary said.

“I forgot to tell you that this is a special place amongst the other three magical lands. Do you know why?” The king said.

“Why is that so? Mary said.

“It is because, when you go out from this land, you two will find yourselves at the same time and at the same place as you were before. And you can still be on time for your flight.”

“Wow! I suppose we can help you!” Tom said, while Mary was so surprised.

Candy Land Finally!!!!

Tom and Mary are glad that they were back and also were glad that the war was over! Then the king realized that he did not need to remember about everything that they just did and saw, so he erased their memories and forgot everything about Candle Land. Tom and Mary did not remember anything they just did. But the king was glad that they could help.


Ring, Ring, Ring! The bell rang. Tom went home right away and called Mary.

Tom said, “Mary, do you want to go to the three magical places to say goodbye to them. My flight is at eight o clock, so we still have time to go there.”

Mary said, “I would love to go.


“I will meet you at the beach. We are going to Red Land first.”
What time do I go there? Mary asked.

“The normal time we always meet, three o clock. See you there, Bye!”

Mary went home happily.

“It is three o clock already! Oops! I better run on my way!!!” He ran out of to bed and down the staircase.

Before going, Tom asked, “Mother, do we have to go to America?”

“Well of course. Why do you ask?”

“It is because I found this three magical land of pixies and dwarfs and I want to visit them everyday to play with them!”

“I told you were just imagining. Well, if it is true to you, you can ask them to move can they because you said it is magical right?”


“Well that’s true, I could ask them. You’re a clever mom!”


“Kids this days. They have big imaginations!” said mom.


Tom saw Mary already there waiting for him. “Let’s jump.”

When they reached there, Rosie was surprise to see Tom. “Hello Rosie, I have forgotten to tell you that I will be going to America and live there.”

“May I ask you if you could change hole to America to the place where I am living?”

Rosie said, “ Ok we can I suppose…we will try!”

“Great!”


“Can we play with you for thirty minutes?”


“Of course we will!”

So they played happily. When its time to go, they gave Tom and Mary a big hug.


“Bye everybody! See you soon!” They helped Tom and Mary go up the hole.”


So next they went to Cake Land. They went to the place and jumped in the hole. When they reached there, the dwarfs made him a special cake. And on the cake it says, “we will miss you.”


Dooky said he had found where Candy Land had moved!
Tom was so happy. “That’s great! But do you know why they had moved?”


“No. But they moved to this place called Tampusu Park at Chua Chu Kang Ave 1.

“Great! I will go there right now! But first we can play for a while because we will be going soon.”
“Ok.”

“Can I ask if you could go to America to play with me? After all, you are magical creatures are you?

“Sure, why not”

30 minutes later,

“Goodbye!”

Off they went to Tempusu Park. They could go there by bus so it wasn’t hard to get there. When they reached there, Tom was very joyful that there was a hole. They jumped in the hole eagerly to see if it is Candy Land! Tom was very glad to see Adeline and the pixies safe and sound.

But Tom asked curiously “Adeline, why have you moved hole?”

“We wanted to tell you this but we can’t find you. Since you’re so curious, we will tell you why we have moved. While me and my pixies were busily preparing for Christmas, a man found our land and wanted to capture us because he wanted to show it to the museum so that the museum would pay him. We escaped by using this magical power to make him sleep for an hour. We brought him back up and moved to another place, here because not much people play here for the reason that we moved here. I hope your not frustrated finding us?”

“ Of course not. We actually made friends along the way, Red Land and Cake Land! Cake Land actually helped us look for you. Without them, we would not find you.”

“Well, I really thank them. What’s so important that you have to talk to me hastily?”

“ I am going to America today that’s why I have to talk to you hastily. Well, can I ask you if you could change hole in America? That’s what I told to the two magical lands and you will be safe because the man who will catch you will not find you!”

“That’s right. And you could be together to play with them. And you will not be lonely!” Mary said.
“Your right. I could change hole to America! Thanks.

"Ok then. I have not much time left! I have to go! Goodbye! See you at America :D.”
